Stop typing.
Just say it.

Hold a key, say the sentence, let go. The words are in your document before you've looked away — in any app, and without your voice ever leaving the machine.

Speaking

What it does

Two things every other dictation tool gets wrong.

01 · It doesn't cut you off

Talk for a minute or an hour.

No timer, no cap, and no cut-off at three minutes.

10:00of continuous talking
about 1,500 words
Ten minutes, one recording.

A pause to think does not end the session.

SAID

so um I think we should uh move the restock to the fourteenth and you know send the damn PO over on Friday

TYPED

I think we should move the restock to the 14th, and send the damn PO over on Friday.

02 · It only changes what you tell it to

Verbatim, or exactly as much cleanup as you asked for.

Every behaviour is a switch. Three run on your machine, two need the cloud.

The rest of it

The small things you only notice when they're missing.

Individually small. Collectively the reason people stop looking.

01

Profiles per context

A saved set of switches for Professional Email, Notes, Chat, or Code — each with its own dictionary corrections.

02

Punctuation you didn't dictate

Commas, full stops, capitals and paragraphs read from how you actually speak.

03

Learns your words

Names, products, acronyms and the spellings you use. Fix one once and it stays fixed.

04

Snippets and voice commands

Say a phrase, get a block of text. "New paragraph" and "scratch that" do the obvious thing.

05

Works in every app

Not a plugin or browser extension. It types wherever your cursor already is.

06

Your history, on your disk

Every dictation stays searchable on your machine for as long as you want it.

Where the work happens

How it works

Hold Ctrl Shift → say the sentence → let go. The text is already there.

No editor, no inbox, no window to switch to. A pause to think is just a pause, and there is nothing else to learn.

How it compares

The same table you were about to build yourself.

Everyone shopping in this category opens five tabs and makes this grid. Here it is, with the sources, so you can skip a step and catch us if it drifts.

What it needs, and what it puts on your disk.

Operating systemWindows 10 or 11

64-bit. ARM laptops aren't supported yet.

Memory8 GB RAM

16 GB if you keep a lot of apps open.

Disk spaceAbout 1 GB

Most of it is the speech model.

Graphics cardNot required

It runs on your processor.

The installer itself is small and downloads in seconds. The first time you open it, Type Nothing fetches the speech model once — that's the part that takes a few minutes on a normal connection. After that it never downloads it again, and the app works with no internet at all.

Questions

The ones that actually matter.

Short answers. The long ones are in the docs.

Does my voice go to a server?

Not on Free or Unlimited, and not for transcription. The speech model runs on your PC. Pro can send text for optional rewriting; turn it off and every offline feature keeps working.

Do I need an account?

Yes — a free one on first run. The download is never gated. Your allowance, dictionary, and profiles can follow you to another machine; none of what you dictate is part of the account.

How long can I talk in one go?

As long as you want. There is no time limit in the app — no timer, no cut-off, and no cap on a single dictation.

Will it change what I actually said?

Only if you tell it to. Verbatim mode means no reordering, rewording, or silently corrected numbers.

How big is the download?

The installer is small. On first run the app downloads the speech model once — under a gigabyte — and after that it needs nothing from us. Total disk use is roughly 1 GB.

What does the founding licence include?

Unlimited local dictation on up to three of your computers, and every 1.x release, permanently. It also includes two years of the account platform — cloud backup of your dictionary and profiles, and priority support. After two years the app and every local feature keep working exactly as they are; cloud backup becomes read-only, and you can switch it back on for $49 a year if you want it.

Does it work in the app I use?

Yes. It types wherever your cursor already is. If an app blocks it, your text stays safely on the clipboard.

The fastest way to find out is to use it for a day.

Free to use, free to leave — it uninstalls cleanly if it isn't for you.
